National Lottery Fund two New Field Shelters for BDHRA

We must also thank the National Lottery for funding two new field shelters for our ponies so they will be snug and warm this winter. The field shelters are very smart indeed and mean the ponies can escape the elements; in the summer they can have some shade and in the winter they can escape the cold. . . .

Children In Need Fund BDHRA

We are very fortunate to have received funding from Children in Need. They have give us £10,000 towards the cost of replacing the indoor surface in our Riding School on the proviso that we can raise the surplus. (this is known as match funding). The surface will costs circa £26,000. So, phew its just as well our Golf Day was such a success because it means we will be able to go ahead with the project and plan to do so over the Easter Vacation. . . .

Hurrah, We did it - BDHRA came first in Lloyds Community Fund

Yes , we came FIRST in the Lloyds Community Fund and so £3,000 will be zinging its way into our bank account. We won our regional area of Beds, Cambs and Suffolk . 7,000 charities were originally subitted over the British Isles reduced to 300 by the judging panel - we will be using the money towards upgrading the flooring in the indoor school which will cost approximately £26,000. A big thank you to everyone who voted for us, it was a close run thing and we just pipped two other charities to the post. . . .

Craft Fayre Raises £2013.40

We are very happy to report that our annual craft fayre continues to be a great success and we raised £2013.40. This money is particularly useful because it is not ring fenced like donations from larger funders which we have to spend on particular items. We would like to say how important it is to us that we receive such support at grass roots level and we wish to thank everyone who donates and raises money for us no matter how small or how large the donation. For example money raised at coffee mornings, garden openings and toy stall sales is just as important to us as money received from larger funders in fact perhaps more so because larger funders are unlikely to want to give us money

Woburn Golf Day

We held a Golf Day at Woburn Golf Club in October and it was a phenomenal success raising just over £52,000 which will be split between Willen Hospice and the BDHRA. It was a wonderful day and we must thank the Duke of Bedford for the use of such a superb facility. Over 30 teams competed and were very generous in supporting an auction supervised by Charlie Ross of `Flog It` fame. Thank you to everyone who donated such enticing auction prizes which ranged from a week in ski-chalet in Courcheval to a Day`s Shooting at Stonely Hill Farm. We shared the event with Willen Hospice and we must particularly thank all our sponsors and also the main event organisers: Nick Kier, Ivan Twigden , Sheila
