Tribute to Councillor Carole Ellis

Last year one of our greatest supporters lost her battle against cancer. Councillor Ellis not only represented her village for many years as a District Councillor, she will also be remembered for her unwavering support of the Bedford and District Handicapped Riders Association. In the year that Councillor Ellis was Mayor of Bedford (2000) she chose our charity to be one of the beneficiaries of her mayoral fund and this gained us £6,000. She visited us frequently and showed great compassion for our riders and joined in with fun at our mounted games, with great enthusiasm. We feel very privileged to have been supported by such a dedicated person and will miss her.

Bedford School`s continued support of Bedord and District Handicapped Riders Association

As a charity, we are very lucky to have the continued support of Bedford School. Not only do they send us sixth formers as volunteers on a Wednesday, they also continue to raise funds for us. Recently we were handed a cheque for £1020 which represented one fifth of the proceeds from an Ice Ball that The Parents Guild organised. This brings the total raised so far by Bedford School to £2,809 for which we are enormously grateful. The school boys raise everyone`s spirits on Wednesday afternoons not the least their charges who delight in mixing with people closer to their own age.
