Going the Extra Mile

On Saturday morning 24th October, between Storms Austen and Boelo, a hardy bunch of runners and walkers tackled ‘Going The Extra Mile for BDHRA’, a 7.2 mile course starting and finishing at the riding centre on a route that took the participants out to Bedford’s Priory Country Park and back again.

The event was held to raise funds for BDHRA and took the opportunity to celebrate the 65th birthday for the charity that was founded in 1961.

The event was also held in memory of Martyn Pearson who sadly passed last December having devoted his life to supporting many and varied fundraising events around the Bedford area. Martyn’s wife Lorrie sent the runners off at 10.15 a.m. including her son Ollie, daughter-in-law Jessica and son-in-law Simon who between them raised a significant sum towards the overall total of £15,000.

We were also honoured by the presence of The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Ismail Anilmis, accompanied by his wife Anne-Marie, both of whom joined in with the walkers and provided great support for everyone attending on the day.

As a charity we are blessed by the support that we receive and which is very much appreciated!

A big thank you to everyone who took part and to The Rotary Club of Bedford Park who ensured that the event ran smoothly
